About the editors
Dr.-Eng. Mustafa El-Rawy is an associate professor of water resources at the Faculty of Engineering, Minia University, Egypt, since 2018. He received his Ph.D. from Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) in Water Resources Engineering in 2013. He received his M.Sc. from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KUL) and Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) in Water Resources Engineering (IUPWARE programme) in 2008. He received his B.Sc. degreein Civil Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering, Minia University, Minia, Egypt in 2002. He worked as a research scientist at Sultan Qaboos University, Muscat, Oman on the project of “Managed Aquifer Recharge using Treated Wastewater in Different Geological Setting of MENA Countries” (2014 - 2015). He has been awarded a master's scholarship from the VLIR-UOS, Belgium (2006 - 2008), a PhD scholarship from the Erasmus Mundus External Cooperation Window (EMECW) Programme, and Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Belgium (2009 - 2013), a postdoctoral Fellowship from Sultan Qaboos University, Muscat, Oman (2014 - 2015), and a postdoctoral Fellowship from the Egyptian Ministry of High Education at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Brussels, Belgium (October 2015 - March 2016). His research experience includes water resources engineering and management, groundwater modeling, managed aquifer recharge (MAR), groundwater-surface water interaction, flood hazards, Climate change, Irrigation WaterRequirements, hydrology, water quality, riverbank filtration (RF), GIS, and artificial intelligence techniques. He is the author or co-author of many journal papers with impact factors, 4 books or chapters in books. Dr. El-Rawy is a reviewer for several international scientific journals that are indexed in Scopus and WoS. Dr. El-Rawy is currently working as an associate professor of water resources at the college of Engineering, Shaqra University, Saudi Arabia.
