About this book

Fluorescence Molecular Tomography: Principles and Applications is the first book to cover the underlying principles and practical applications of fluorescence molecular tomography (FMT) in a systematic manner. Using a tutorial approach, the text begins with an overview of the fundamentals of FMT and goes on to detail image reconstruction approaches (including linear and nonlinear reconstruction algorithms), FMT instrumentations (including time-domain, frequency-domain, and continuous-wave domain systems), and implementation of image-enhancing schemes (including both software and hardware approaches). Further chapters examine multimodal approaches combining photoacoustic tomography (PAT), computed tomography (CT), single-photon emission tomography (SPECT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and discuss bioluminescence tomography and miniaturized FMT from hand-held to endoscopic FMT. A final chapter looks at clinical applications and animal studies. This authoritative andpractical guide will serve as a valuable reference for researchers, scientists, clinicians, and industry professionals.

About the author

Huabei Jiang, Ph.D., joined the University of South Florida (USF) in 2017 as a professor and founding faculty member of USF’s Medical Engineering Department and the founding Director of the USF Center for Advanced Biomedical Imaging. He started his career as an assistant professor of physics at Clemson University in 1997 and became a full professor there in 2003. He joined the University of Florida (UF) in 2005 as a founding senior faculty member of the newly established Biomedical Engineering Department and later became the J. Crayton Pruitt Family endowed professor in 2008. He has published over 400 peer-reviewed scientific articles and patents and is the author of three books: Diffuse Optical Tomography: Principles and Applications (CRC Press, 2011), Photoacoustic Tomography (CRC Press, 2014), and Thermoacoustic Tomography: Principles and Applications (IOP Publishing, 2020). Professor Jiang is a Fellow of Optica (formerly the Optical Society of America), the International Society of Optical Engineering (SPIE), and the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE). Outside of his research and teaching, he spends much of his time practicing Chinese calligraphy and painting (ink/color pencil, watercolor, pastel, oil, and acrylic). He had the first exhibition of his artworks in July 2019 in Chengdu, China. He is also a recipient of numerous awards in professional art competitions.
