Abstract
In the introductory chapter I outline definitions of continental philosophy, madness and the continental psychiatric tradition. The chapter details the central philosophical themes of continental philosophy of psychiatry in the twentieth century. Introduces continental psychiatry as a pluralistic and open approach to madness.
