Abstract

Retracing the stages of the Odyssey journey, the project aims to build a Cultural Itinerary which, reconsiders the legacy left by the poem, fosters Dialogue between peoples and the Sustainable Development of territories. Through the knowledge of local places and identities, scientific research will promote new forms of education for the younger generation, with particular attention to cultural diversity: this will contribute to building a perspective of peace and prosperity, according to the principles of the Council of Europe and the Faro Convention - as regards the involvement of local communities and the role of cultural heritage for society - and the european green new deal, as regards sustainable development. the mediterranean area is the physical-geographic space in which the idea is located, in which to create (or rather recreate) the dense network of cultural and economic exchanges of the past, of which the homeric story is testimony in the widespread material and immaterial evidence of the territories that characterise it. the project will make use of this network to identify shared values by the different peoples of the mediterranean and build, as well as relations between territories, a network of subjects, capable of implementing strategies and policies aimed at achieving sustainable and inclusive growth, which identifies - for example - sustainable tourism as a possible relaunch for the areas involved, thus making them more competitive and attractive.

The work is the result of the shared commitment of the authors. However, paragraph 1 can be attributed to Roberta Alberotanza; to Carmela Tramontana paragraphs 2, 3; to Mariangela Monaca paragraph 4; to Francesco CalabrĂ² paragraphs 5, 6. Conclusions were written jointly by the authors.
