Abstract

Color is deeply related to people’s living and plays extremely important role in visual communication. Color also makes important meanings of visual communication, and its configuration endues people with feelings. The city could straightly build “City color Imagery” and artistic conception by making good use of colors, and cities would highlight and construct unique goals through self-color identify. Given that most cities around the world are competing for their own characteristics, the “City color Imagery” has become the basic elements which shape the city’s appearance and the carrier of culture and history. The purpose of this essay is based on the color analysis of New Taipei City and the Questionnaire Survey of the citizens, respectively discussing the color influence of 12 districts of New Taipei City. Our conclusions were as follows: 1. the color imagery can also form a high impact of strong evaluation, 2. According to the Edge element of The Image of the City, with substantial characteristics, such as rivers, mountains or buildings, can form a consensus on emotional evaluation with citizens., 3. When planning city color image, factors such as “significant significance,” “generating a strong sense of belonging,” “very special,” and “representing regional personality” can be taken into consideration, making it easier for citizens to meet their psychological needs and identify. The consequence can also create the basis of “City color Imagery” in the future.
