Abstract

Cystoid macular edema (CME) after lens surgery (Irvine-Gass Syndrome) requires the attention of cataract surgeons due to its high absolute incidence and potentially irreversible visual loss. In this chapter, we discuss the etiology, risk factors and clinical course of postoperative CME. It also discusses evidence-based treatment methods and prophylactic measures and supplements these with personal experience and recommendations of the author.
