Abstract

In this chapter, we address two incremental author name disambiguation methods, namely INDi (Incremental Unsupervised Name Disambiguator) [de Carvalho et al., 2011] and INC (Incremental Nearest Cluster) [Santana et al., 2017]. Unlike more traditional methods such those described in Chapters 4 and 5, incremental author name disambiguation methods provide strategies that guarantee the correct authorship assignment of new citation records as they are added to a bibliographic repository, thus avoiding the disambiguation of its entire repository from time to time. In what follows, we first describe INDi (Section 6.1) and then INC (Section 6.2), finishing the chapter with a brief discussion on the complexity of both methods (Section 6.3).
