Abstract
An engineering profession that defines ethics using a morally deep paradigm would, in turn, require changes to the manner in which students are educated. In the present chapter, an educational paradigm based on the notion of an integral community is described. Engineering education is highly regulated by accrediting agencies, particularly in the United Sates. In many ways, it is the accreditation process that is most effective in promoting change in engineering education. As a result, changes are suggested for the criteria used by the Accreditation Board in Engineering and Technology (ABET) in determining whether or not any program is fully sanctioned.
