Abstract
Traumatic head and neck vascular injuries require multi-disciplinary approaches depending on location of injury and collateral damage. With advancing capabilities of dual-trained neurosurgeons, isolated extracranial vessel injuries increasingly fall under their purview given their capabilities and potential for neurologic sequelae. Here, we present a penetrating injury to the vertebral artery and discuss the role of operative versus nonoperative management and endovascular techniques versus open surgical exploration.
