Abstract

This research analyzes the issue of the climate change and smart grid solutions from the point of view of the efficiency in the field of the power electronics. The power distribution of the Spanish electric system has changed over the years. Moreover, it will further change with the introduction of new concepts, like the smart grids, opening new possibilities for the distribution of energy. In this case, the power electronics aims to interconnect the different parts of the electric system and controlling the energy that flows from point to point. Thus, the optimization, modelling and control of the power electronics converters have become a trending topic nowadays. With the introduction of new technologies almost in every field, the intelligent techniques can be widely used in optimization and control of the power converters, improving the efficiency and control. A classification algorithm to detect the operation mode based on intelligent techniques has been developed and implemented. This intelligent model is able to differentiate between the two operation modes, hard-switching (HS) and soft-switching (SS). The obtained results provide high accuracy in the detection, making possible the improvement of the converter efficiency with the proposed model.
