Abstract
Hospitality services, provided for various needs, reflect the richness of the different dimensions of the person who is composed of a body and a soul. The diversity in the requirements for the care of the human body is intrinsically united to and inseparable from their deeper desires for fulfilment attributed to their soul. While keeping in mind the unity of the human person, professionalism in hospitality requires a closer look at a holistic approach to service, in order to satisfy a wide range of clients’ requests originating from the dimensions of the person. Within the hospitality industry, it is often easy to evaluate and appreciate the aesthetics of finished products. However, the professionals can approach their tasks in a way that the process and the end products appeal to the guests or clients in an integral way, such that they not only appeal to the senses or provide biological necessities like food, but also appeal to the intelligence, social expectations, etc. This chapter explores aspects of the human person, presenting a holistic approach to service that is in line with human dignity. It also discusses personal development for the professional attained through the practice of virtues.
