Abstract

The dawn of the twenty-first century was marked by the evolution of measurement-based care (MBC) as the new standard of care for patients with mental disorders. Recent research has shown the advantages of using MBC in clinical practice. Chapter 6 reviews the basic properties of scales that can be used in MBC and discusses barriers to implementing MBC in psychiatric practice. Recent technological developments of the twenty-first century that will accelerate the adoption of MBC in clinical practice are reviewed.
