Abstract

Congenital penile torsion (PT) or rotation of the penis along its longitudinal axis is a common anomaly that may occur alone or in association with chordee and/or hypospadias. PT may be classified into three grades: grade I with rotation angle <45°, grade II with angle of rotation between 45° and 90°, and grade III with rotation more than 90°. Surgical correction of grade I is indicated while performing circumcision or when associated with hypospadias or chordee. The grade I rotation can be corrected by careful skin alignment during the hypospadias or chordee operation. Grade II torsion can be corrected successfully using dorsal dartos flap (DDF). Patients with grade III are ideally corrected by fixation of corpus cavernosum to pubic periosteum or corporo-periosteo-pexy (CPP).
