Abstract

Circumcision was practiced for thousands of years in many countries to avoid balanitis caused by the bite of the desert sand fly. The prepuce is formed of five layers histologically and develops first dorsolaterally. The prepuce in hypospadias is usually incomplete and may present in different forms. It is recommended to keep the foreskin until the hypospadias is successfully corrected. Foreskin reconstruction is desired in some countries due to cultural and religious reasons.
