Algerian Languages in Education

Abstract

This is a concluding chapter that discusses the attempts of the Algerian government to reform the educational system in Algeria without any promising results that could intercede for the government in the eyes of critics. The chapter alludes to a quasi-French educational system in Algeria that is regarded as a French replica but faraway in terms of the qualities it serves. It also discusses the horizons of education in Algeria and how to mitigate the French presence in the educational sector. Nevertheless, suggesting a multilingualism model of education can settle linguistic tensions but can also pave the road for further sinister scenarios to take place simultaneously. The chapter finishes by suggesting future researches that may fully elucidate the linguistic struggle and touch on the ethnic tensions in Algeria that had their shades on the educational system as a result.
