Definition of Social Urbanism
Social Urbanism (SU) is an urban governance model driving positive transformation through simultaneous actions in the built, natural, and social spheres of the city. This process aims to improve the quality of life of citizens by ameliorating the urban context in which they live. “Urban context” in a broad definition refers not only to physical infrastructure but also to environmental resources such as access to green belts, parks, clean and healthy water streams, etc., as well as the social context: the array of opportunities that support human development: easiness of mobility, quality of air, soundscape, and landscape, as well as the stock of social infrastructure, e.g., schools, hospitals, libraries, parks, cultural centers, the transport network, community housing, etc. Hence, SU...
