Anesthesiology In-Training Exam Review

Abstract

Regional anesthesia is a valuable adjunct in enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocols and clinical pathways to facilitate opioid minimization and improve intraoperative course and postoperative recovery. This chapter reviews the use of various regional anesthesia techniques, including neuraxial anesthesia, peripheral nerve blocks, and fascial plane blocks, to augment enhanced recovery across several major surgical areas.
