Abstract

Patient satisfaction has attracted increasing attention during the past decades. It is a particular subject of research in the context of oncology in western countries, although several studies on patient satisfaction have also been conducted in other regions. Patient satisfaction assessment instruments have been developed and are now routinely utilized in many countries; however, initiatives to elaborate and validate such questionnaires across cultures are more recent. Cross-culturally validated instruments are expected to allow comparisons and synthesis of data and so provide useful information for quality-of-care improvement in line with cancer patients’ expectations and needs.
