Abstract

This paper proposes a methodology for estimating the parameters of a multi-storey building with non-linear dynamic vibration dampers under seismic action. A calculation-theoretical efficiency analysis of the dynamic vibration damper (DVD) in buildings was performed to identify the optimal combinations of the main parameters of the dynamic vibration damper under the impacts of unsteady character with a different spectral-frequency composition. The efficiency criteria for the use of DVD in multi-storey buildings have been determined. The scope of vibration dampers depending on the dynamic building features and spectral-frequency composition of the seismic effect has been established. The impact of the stiffness degradation of the bonds between the building floors under seismic action on the performance of the DVD has been assessed. Recommendations for the main dimensions of building vibration dampers have been developed.
