Abstract

This chapter highlights cognitive techniques, including defusion practices, as they relate to compassion fatigue and burnout. The role of thoughts in stress, trauma, and burnout is explored. Cognitive approaches, including defusion techniques, are defined and reviewed, with practical tools and case examples to highlight the use of these approaches in intervening in burnout and TRES.
