Abstract
In this chapter the different methods for the analysis of data from an n-of-1 trial are discussed. Although there are many different ways in which an n-of-1 trial can be performed, in general there are many repeated measurements within one subject. In these repeated measurements, the subject receives either the intervention or the control condition or, for instance, different forms of the intervention (e.g., different doses of medication). When there is a true n-of-1 trial performed, the best way to “estimate” an intervention effect is descriptive statistics. However, mostly, a series of n-of-1 trials is performed. In this chapter a few examples are given in which a series of n-of-1 trials can be analyzed and how an appropriate intervention effect can be estimated.
