Abstract

So far we have been dealing with the consideration of beam and rod structures and their exact-analytical treatment. However, in practical application, calculation tasks often arise in which exact solutions of given beam and rod problems are no longer possible or only possible with unproportional effort and one has to use one of the many available analysis and approximation methods of structural mechanics, which in many cases are based on work and energy considerations. Such work and energy methods are discussed in detail in this part of this book and their practical application is highlighted.
