Abstract
Digital technologies provide opportunities for diverse companies to innovate their business models in different ways. The process of business model innovation triggered by digitization is especially challenging for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). In addition, literature on business model innovation, following the digitization of SMEs business process, remains limited. Thus, the article uses an exploratory case study approach to analyze two different business model innovation processes triggered by digital technologies. Additionally, the SMEs benefited from the support of a regional digital innovation hub for digitizing their processes. In this paper, the authors discuss two business model innovation paths, growth-focused and efficiency-focused paths.
