Papillary adenocarcinoma
Definition
Papillary carcinoma is a malignant follicular cell-derived neoplasm defined by a set of distinctive nuclear features, including (1) chromatin characteristics: e.g., chromatin clearing, margination, and glassy nuclei; (2) nuclear membrane irregularity: e.g., irregular nuclear contour, nuclear grooves, and nuclear pseudoinclusions; and (3) change in nuclear size and shape: e.g., nuclear elongation, enlargement, and overlapping (Fig. 1).
