Abstract
A synapse is a specialised structure that acts a connector between two neurons. It allows the transmission of electrical signals from one neuron to another. The neuron sending the impulse is known as the pre-synaptic neuron while the neuron receiving the signal is known as post-synaptic neuron. The existence of synapses allows neurons to communicate with each other and influence the activity of other neurons.
