Abstract
This chapter reviews and analyzes the unique features of nonprofit organizations’ statutory regulation in Israel. First, we review the historical background of the regulation from a broader socioeconomic perspective. We then elaborate on the regulatory regime in Israel and explore the regulatory tool of the “proper management procedures” as a case study. Lastly, we analyze and criticize this regime and its influence on nonprofit organizations. We conclude the article with recommendations on how to improve public policy to better adapt statutory regulation to the needs of the organizations and the community’s social objectives.
