Abstract
While federal and state compliance with laws, regulations, and standards is mandatory, it also provides the perfect foundation for building occupational health and safety programs for infectious disease. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) sets minimum safety requirements, but employers may (and should) apply more protective requirements for their workplaces. In this chapter, these minimum safety requirements from OSHA are laid out for you so that you can effectively build or expand on existing programs or even start a new one from scratch.
