Abstract
Pneumocystosis is an opportunistic infection of yeast-like fungus Pneumocystis jirovecii (previously P. carinii), mainly occurring in immunocompromised humans. It is less common with widespread use of HAART and prophylaxis. Pneumocystosis mainly causes choroidopathy and denotes poor systemic prognosis. It is spread via inhalation of infectious organisms.
