Abstract

Digital shadows will permeate to a considerable extent of all value-added processes of products and services, both large and small. In 15–30 years, these AI systems will be widespread and highly mature, and will characterize wide areas of industry, public and private life. This will fundamentally change the way we think and act. Competence development, educational pathways, legal systems, and public order systems must be rethought. Moral and ethical issues need to be addressed. Intelligent machines with their own consciousness must become their own legal entities accountable to corresponding laws.
