Abstract
This chapter introduces the four key participants in the case study—Leo, Raph, Mikey, and Donnie and their entry into the world of gangs, with an emphasis on their early (adverse) childhood experiences.

Royaltown was always heavily influenced by and connected to Glasgow because the town bordered the city directly and as such Catholic youth from several schemes in Glasgow attended the Catholic secondary school in Royaltown.
