The Nurse Practitioner in Urology

Abstract

Advanced practice providers (APP) in urology are consistently evaluating pre- and postoperative patients. There is an abundance of pre-op evaluation and management direction provided in the literature, and included in this chapter is a guide to the pre-op assessment applicable to urology. APPs are also evaluating post-op complications in the office, but specific postoperative management of urology surgery patients remains largely unstandardized. This chapter will discuss interventions for common issues that APPs are likely to encounter when performing outpatient postoperative assessment of urology patients.
