Abstract
This chapter describes four case studies and the process innovators went through while developing their products. These case studies were chosen because they are linked to technological innovations. The Oncomfort Case is about implementation of virtual reality in a cancer hospital to reduce pain and anxiety in patients. The Tippytalk Platform Case, is a platform created by a father for his non-verbal autistic daughter so that she could communicate with others. The Open Sesame App Case is an Android app for patients with mobility disabilities, it uses the device’s internal camera to track the user’s face and uses their movements to control the screen. The Feelif is a social innovation developed to improve creativity in blind and visually impaired patients using technological devices, sounds and vibrations. Throughout the book several innovations have been mentioned, a variety of product innovations were chosen to expose the fact that, patient innovations can vary from a simple jean redesigning to an actual technological device.
