Abstract

Defecation disorders are common in children and adolescents. These individuals can have an impairment in quality of life and families seek medical professionals more often compared with healthy controls. This consensus defines criteria and reviews the epidemiology pathophysiology and management of functional constipation and nonretentive fecal incontinence.
