Abstract
Elderly patients with TBI differ from younger subjects in many respects, including pre-injury health and functioning, medications and risk for complications. There are also anatomical and physiological differences, which have an impact on the clinical course. Despite the rapid increase in the number of geriatric TBIs, strong evidence about treatment guidelines is severely lacking. Individual decisions become possibly even more pronounced in this age group, requiring careful consideration of multiple issues.
