Abstract
Like on a rugby field, respecting the basics is fundamental to success. The famous quote “no scrum, no win” could be translated into the sports medicine field and probably in life. The philosophy of “sticking to basics” refers to the skills, knowledge, teaching and also patient–doctor relationship. It is sticking to the principle while we embrace the benefit of new technologies. This approach will prevent the disappearance of our specialty, which is being challenged day after day by technological advances.
