Abstract
A 76-year-old male nursing home patient with a history of dementia was evaluated for a red crusted area on his left lower extremity. He had a previous history of neurotic excoriations and lichen simplex chronicus for which he was being treated with mupirocin 2% ointment, and triamcinolone cream. The lesion on the left lower extremity had been present for several years, and was asymptomatic, but recently became more red and scaly. The patient denied any pain or pruritus in the area.
