Abstract
The effects of trauma on learning are analyzed in this chapter with respect to the systemic and cyclical patterns that repeat at the hands of well-intended parents and educators. A case study illustrates the way Educational Trauma manifests in a family with two students, and how one parent attempted to help them resolve it. The lens of analysis pulls outward so that more rings of social ecology can be seen for their interactions and overlapping influence. These interactions and influences are explained by comparing the student in the case study with Scott Barry Kaufman’s personal and professional histories.
