Introduction

The work on music and ethics looks at the ways in which emotions may be engaged by music in order to make optimal ethical decisions and also the ethical issues that arise in the use of music, for example, on politics or by businesses themselves. A primary driver has also been the connection between ethics and peace studies, and so much of the writing on music, business, and ethics also connect to peacebuilding.

Music and Business Ethics

A relatively new effort to integrate music, business, and ethics with peace studies began in 2016. This collaborative effort was initiated by two conferences at Indiana University led by scholars at the Jacobs School of Music, the Kelley School of Business, and the College of Arts and Sciences. Music certainly stands to be a candidate for a cultural artifact that brings people together.
