Abstract

The human face is composed of small functional and cosmetic units, of which the eyes and periocular region plays a pivotal role in esthetics and the expression of mood, emotion, and character. Blepharoplasty is a commonly performed cosmetic procedure that can restore facial harmony and correct age-induced alterations in the eyelids and periorbital area manifested by redundancy and displacement of soft tissues. Appropriate knowledge of periorbital anatomy, a thorough systemic preoperative assessment, and meticulous surgical technique are necessary to produce good surgical results and minimize the risk of surgical complications. This chapter will discuss the applied anatomy, indications for surgery, preoperative workup, surgical procedure, postoperative care, and complications of upper and lower eyelid blepharoplasty.
