Abstract
This personal narrative illustrates the different ways faculty may come to technology, some with explicit instruction earlier in their careers and some like myself who came to it much later. When I arrived at Hostos I have been teaching online for a few years, first at Seattle Central College and then at a community college in Massachusetts as an adjunct faculty member. Hostos has provided me with many opportunities to strengthen my online teaching skills. Here I have developed both asynchronous and hybrid psychology courses and continue to teach in all modalities (face-to-face, asynchronous, and hybrid). My involvement with the Hostos Online Learning Assessment (HOLA) task force since its beginning has been very rewarding, as this group is focused and collegial. Our research is helping inform the college community and City University of New York (CUNY) about our student perceptions of their online learning experience. Perhaps it was serendipitous that I arrived at Hostos when I did.
