Abstract

This chapter prepares an empirical basis for computational modelling of embedded corrections in native/non-native speaker chat. First, embedded corrections of various types of linguistic errors will be discussed. The sequential places where embedded corrections can occur will be analysed. Further, embedded correction addressing trouble other than linguistic errors will be introduced. The working mechanism of embedded corrections will be then under the loupe. Finally, the findings will be summarised and discussed.
