Abstract

In this chapter you will learn about the pathogenesis, the diagnosis, and the treatment of venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. Furthermore you will learn about special clinical situations (i.e., cancer, elderly patients, and pregnancy), which are associated with a high thrombotic risk. Current therapeutic concepts for these groups of patients will also be discussed.
