No one knows exactly how common cervical cancer is. The “incidence” or rate varies in different parts of the world and in different parts of each country. The disease is more common in cities and less common in rural areas. It tends to be commoner in populations with lower socioeconomic status although higher economic status is no bar to developing the disease.
