Key Points

Interventions to increase physical activity and to maintain healthier lifestyles are essential strategies to reduce and prevent both pediatric obesity and T2DM. Supervised physical activity, family based behavioral interventions, environmental/policy changes, and reinforcement interventions are effective ways to increase physical activity in the short term. Sustained multi-level approaches will be required to achieve long-term changes in physical activity and pediatric obesity.
