Operating the Purchase Department

  • Chapter
Purchasing and Supply Management

Abstract

Having reviewed some of the considerations underlying purchases, we may now take a closer look at purchasing routines. In chapter 4 the purchasing process was analysed into four stages:

  1. (i)

    finding out what is wanted and when;

  2. (ii)

    deciding supplier and price;

  3. (iii)

    placing and chasing order;

  4. (iv)

    receiving the goods and approving payment.
