Résumé
Les recherches consacrées à la maturation des systèmes afférents de l’écorce cérébrale, tant sur le plan anatomique que sur le plan fonctionnel, offrent un intérêt qui déborde largement le cadre strict du développement du système nerveux. En effet, dans un grand nombre de cas, elles permettent de mieux comprendre l’organisation et le fonctionnement des systèmes sensoriels de l’animal adulte. La recherche systématique de corrélations anatomo-fonctionnelles au cours du développement post-natal du système nerveux des Mammifères a ainsi abouti à quelques publications récentes (Puepuea et al., 1960, 1964; Marty, 1962; Marty et Scherrer, 1964; Scheibel et Scheibel, 1964). Mais ces recherches corrélatives conduisent elles-mêmes à approfondir les investigations, en particulier dans le domaine structural (Voeller et al., 1963). L’étude résumée ci-dessous se propose de préciser certains aspects de la maturation post-natale de l’aire visuelle du cortex cérébral chez le Chat et de compléter ainsi les informations obtenues dans une série de recherches antérieures sur le système visuel (Marty, 1962). Basée principalement sur la méthode de Golgi-Cox, elle est à rapprocher de celle consacrée par Noback et Purpura (1961) au développement post-natal du néocortex cérébral du Chat considéré dans son ensemble.
