Abstract
This book touched on the history of educational psychology from its antecedents in the 16th to 18th century. However, primary attention was devoted to the period from the late 19th century to the present. The historical treatment reveals the diverse roots of educational psychology in philosophy and psychology. At the same time, it demonstrates how the never clearly integrated field of educational psychology has splintered into subject areas that now hold the status of disciplines in their own right.
