Abstract

There are still a few nursing leaders for whom participation in the political process is totally alien. For them the words nursing, power and politics are incompatible. They have transmitted these values to thousands of nurses under their direction. This is a frightening situation in the United Kingdom where, more than any other country in the world, politicians have a direct impact on the entire health and nursing service.
