Metallaboron Cage Compounds of the Main Group Metals

  • Chapter
Metal Interactions with Boron Clusters

Part of the book series: Modern Inorganic Chemistry ((MICE))

Abstract

The first carborane compounds were reported in 1962. About 5 years later the first boron cage compounds containing main group metals appeared in the literature. During the past 15 years considerable progress has been made in the synthesis and structure elucidation of these heteroatom boranes, but the research activity has been far less intense than that experienced in the carborane area.
