Abstract

The diversity of thrips communities was estimated in meadow ecosystems in the Romanian mountains, as a preliminary analysis of the first two years from a long-term data set. A comparative study of the diversity of thrips fauna was made on six areas at different altitudes, using the Shannon formula with Hutcheson’s correction and Rényi’s diversity ordering. The efficiency of sweeping and shaking as methods of sampling populations for diversity were evaluated. Sweeping was preferable for ecological-faunistic research.
